Deacons                                                                      Women's Retreat Sock Auction to benefit Mercy Ships

Our board of Deacons at Oxford Presbyterian Church is composed of twelve members elected by the congregation. Through out the year, the Deacons are responsible for taking care of the special needs of the church, fellowship dinners and events, and helping to serve Communion.

 

Special Needs and Pastoral Care

Deacons will take care of special needs of the congregation, including:

~arranging for transportation to and from Sunday services

~"Keep In Touch" groups, connecting each church member to a Deacon or Elder

~"Card and Cookies" for college students

~CD recordings of Worship Services for homebound members

~Cradle Roll for new babies and their parents

~Thanksgiving Fruit Baskets for homebound members

Fellowship

Our church picnic goes for a hayride at Nottingham Park!!

Pot luck fellowship dinners throughout the year

Our Famous Deacons' Easter Breakfast! Every Easter morning in Fellowship Hall 7:30 -10:30 a.m.

Hanging of the Greens-dinner and decorating for Christmas, at the beginning of Advent

 

 

Wellness Council

A Christ-centered, wholistic ministry promoting healing and wellness of Body, Mind, Soul and Spirit, while proclaiming the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.

We want to see the church as a community where there is a supportive environment from the beginning of life until it ends.

Services and events we have provided include:

-Blood pressure screenings  monthly                    

-CPR classes                                                               

-Walking Club                                                              

-Healthy Living Fair 2008

-Health and Wholeness Bulletin Board

-Prayer Shawl Ministry

-Weight Management Program

Parish Nurse Ministry includes:                              

-home visits

-telephone visits

-hospital visits

-nursing home visits

-consultation: health issues, spiritual and emotional support

-prayer....for individuals and for health and wholeness of OPC
